Level 1: You have little experience riding a bike. You are comfortable riding on paved surfaces, but once you wander onto dirt or gravel you hesitate and feel uncomfortable. You have never ridden single track trails. Level 2: You have experience riding a bike off-road (dirt/gravel path) and some experience riding single track. You are comfortable on double track (rail trails) trails with moderate climbs and descents, and are able to ride single track. This will be your first time riding a downhill bike. Level 3: You have several years of experience riding cross-country, or motocross and are familiar with downhill mountain biking. You are comfortable on double track and single track trails with moderate climbs and descents, but steep descents make you uncomfortable. Level 4: You are a downhill or freeride mountain biker. You are comfortable on double and single track trails with moderate to steep descents, but you are uncomfortable riding narrow man-made features. Level 5: You are a downhill or freeride mountain biker. You are comfortable on double and single track trails with steep descents and riding narrow man-made features.
