Making a Great First Impression
Based on your appearance guests start to form impressions of you and through you the quality of the products and services we offer. Due to the diversity of our guests and the backgrounds that influence their impressions, this can present a challenge. From hard-core snowboarders and mountain bikers to conference guests in formal wear, we get a wide range of guests, all with different expectations when it comes to the grooming of the staff serving them.

Therefore, we have taken a flexible approach to our grooming policy. We have “Resort wide Minimum Grooming Standards” for front line appearance which address hair, jewelry, tattoos, uniforms and name tags. We also allow each department management to establish their own more restrictive standards, with the guest expectations in mind.

Blue Mountain Resort is a smoke free environment. Guests and employees are not permitted to smoke in any of our buildings or vehicles. In order to provide a healthy, comfortable and productive work environment, employees may smoke outside but only in areas that are out of sight of guests and in designated areas.

Background Checks
As part of compliance with the Payment Card Industry, mandatory checks are required for employees in certain job categories. In addition, Blue Mountain Resort wishes to voluntarily expand criminal background checks to include other job categories, particularly for employees who have contact with vulnerable guests (i.e. children). The type of check completed will be different for employee groups:
  • The mandatory background checks are required for employees who have access to data bases of credit cards. Criminal Reference, Personal Credit and Employment History checks will be completed.
  • Employees who have special access to children and/or have special responsibility for the security of Company premises will also have a Criminal Reference check conducted and may be asked to have a vulnerable sector search as well.
All background checks will be conducted after a conditional offer of employment (or rehire) has been made.

Background checks will only be conducted on applicants and returning employees who are over 18 years of age at the time the conditional offer of hire (or rehire) is made.

Attendance and Punctuality
Being a part of a team at Blue Mountain means showing up for work on time and ready to start. When you are late or do not show up, you are affecting your co-workers and their ability to do their job.

Regular attendance is an important part of a good job record. If you need to be absent form work for any reason, other than sickness or emergency, advance arrangements must be made with your Supervisor.
