Team Building
Communication
Problem Solving
Care, Empathy & Understanding
Leadership Workshop Activities
River Crossing
In this group activity, teens are tasked with crossing an imaginary river using limited resources, such as steppingstones or planks. The challenge lies in strategizing, communicating effectively, and working together to ensure that every team member makes it across.
Goal: Practice leadership and improve team coordination
Human Knot
In this activity a small group of teens are in a circle each holding hands with two others in the circle that are not next to them. The object is to try and untangle themselves without breaking the chain of hands
Goal: To have students use both verbal and non-verbal communication skills, problem solving abilities and increased group familiarity.
Leaders and Followers
In this activity split into 2 groups. Once group is given clear step by step direction on how to build a sculpture while the other group is given all the materials and are given encouragement and creative free will.
Goal: Students will examine how different types of people may work with different types of leaders. We will discuss human behaviour and how leaders can guide a group both positively and negatively.
Strength in Numbers
Object of the activity is for teens to transfer all the items from one tub in to the other, using only the materials provided and following some specific rules.
Goal: To recognize the roles and responsibilities of leading a team. Learn how leadership attitudes can affect a team’s function, and how leaders can influence and inspire people to work together.
Blindfolded Boardwalk
Teams will guide their blindfolded teammates through a boardwalk maze. This activity will allow the teens to work on their verbal communication skills.
Goal: This activity builds on trust and vulnerability to be successful.
Back to Back
Pairs of teens sit on the floor with their backs to each other. One partner will be the person drawing and the other partner will verbally instruct the person. The non-drawing partner will be provided with an image. The non-drawer must only describe what the image is they are not allowed to say what the image is.
Goal: These activities will require the groups to focus on a common goal and communicate with others. They will be required to pay attention to communication, feedback, both verbal and non-verbal.
Egg Drop- Think Creatively
A team of students will create an egg nest from limited materials, which will prevent a raw egg from breaking when dropped from 15ft.
Goal: Organization and collaboration to leverage the strengths of each of its members.
Marshmallow Challenge
Teams must build the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one meter of tape, one meter of string and one marshmallow.
Goal: The exercises teach important lessons about group communication, collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving strategies.

Cross the Line
By asking a series of questions, students will be asked to silently walk to a designated area if they identify or can relate with the question. i.e. Do you wear glasses? Do you play a sport? After all the questions have been asked, students will share their feelings about what was observed and what the activity has to do with leadership.
Goal: Cross the Line is an activity that will allow students to both acknowledge and address ways they are similar and unique from each other. To make sure students feel comfortable there will be special ground rules put in place.
