U16 is the natural continuation for young ski racers from U14. Our program remains focused on the acquisition and consolidation of technical and tactical skills inside and outside of gates. At this point in an athlete’s development, they refine their skills for the “train to race” phase and “race to win” which incorporates Decision Training whereby athletes learn to make decisions and accept responsibility for their training and performance.
The Blue Mountain Jozo Weider U16 OCUP program is a competitive and comprehensive program which requires a significant commitment to training and racing, including travel. This program is the natural transition from U14 OCUP and for those athletes who still want to train, race and compete all winter long. This is not a program for weekend-only racers. This is a program for athletes who live to ski race and want to be out on the hill training and racing every weekend starting in early December and running through until mid-April.
The U16 SOD Cup Program is the natural progression from the U14 SOD Program or for those athletes who competed at the O Cup level, but are no longer able to commit to such an extensive on-snow program. Athletes train and travel as a team and race individually in the disciplines of Giant Slalom (GS) and Slalom (SL). All athletes may enhance their selected program with the purchase of additional Friday Training / Coaching Days. In the U16 Division, we also encourage athletes to learn and compete in the ski-cross (SX) discipline.
