Step 1: Your First Day

Created for first-timers, this lesson is an introduction to the basics of skiing or snowboarding. Step 1 includes a lift ticket and optional rentals along with your beginner group lesson. During the 45-minute lesson, you’ll learn how to balance, glide, and safely stop at your own pace. Guests are welcome to take the lesson multiple times in the same day.

Step 1 lessons are available in the Village Beginner Area Sunday to Thursday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and Friday, Saturday, and Holidays from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM**. Learners can also drop into lessons at the South Base Beginner Area Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. There is no lesson time booking required for Step 1 but Beginner Bundles can be purchased by date in advance online.

Step 2: Practice Makes Perfect

With the basics covered, it’s time to take your skills beyond the beginner carpet and onto the mountain with a 3-hour group lesson. In this small-group lesson, your instructor will help you master turning across a slightly longer slope via a beginner chairlift. You will continue building your confidence and control with guided descents on the same graduated ski trail.

Step 2 of the Learn to Ski or Snowboard Journey is a package that includes a full-mountain lift ticket, optional rental equipment, and the three-hour group lesson, which must be booked in advance using the QR code sticker from your instructor in the previous step.

Step 3: Take it to the Top

The final step in the Learn to Ski Journey will help you take everything you’ve learned and put it together so that you can conquer a ski run from the top of Blue Mountain. Step 3 includes a full-mountain lift ticket, optional ski rentals, and a one-on-one 90-minute private lesson. Your instructor will guide you to confidently slow down, stop, make turns, and navigate back to the base of Blue. Moving at your pace, instruction focuses on safety, confidence, and setting you up for success. Step 3 must be booked in advance using the QR code sticker from your instructor in the previous step.

Free 5x7® Pass Congratulations! Now that you're officially ready to spend your season on the slopes, we want you to get the most of the season. With the completion of Steps 1, 2 and 3, you've earned your FREE 5x7® season pass*. With your very own 5x7® pass, you can return to Blue throughout the season Monday to Friday from 9AM to 9PM, on the weekends after 3:30PM with limited blackout dates. PLUS you can take advantage of all the pass holder events, deals, and discounts during the winter and beyond! Your instructor can provide details on how to access your free season pass upon completion of Step 3.
What type of ticket do packages include?
  • Step 1 – Beginner Lift Ticket valid for slope access in the beginner learning areas only.
  • Step 2 and 3 – All Mountain Lift Ticket valid for all Blue Mountain ski areas.

How do I book Steps 2 and 3?

Your instructor will give you a sticker with a unique QR code that will take you to the page to book your next Step. This will also include exclusive discounts for rentals and other offerings.

Is there a timeline for booking Steps 2 and 3?

Yes, Steps 2 and 3 must be booked during the 2025/26 season.

Do I have to finish Step 1 in one day?

Yes. You can repeat the lesson as many times as you like during that day until you can safely stop on the beginner slopes.

BLUE MOUNTAIN RESORT’S LEARN TO SKI & SNOWBOARD GUARANTEE TERMS AND CONDITIONS The Learn to Ski & Snowboard Guarantee (the “Guarantee”) is a limited guarantee offered during the 2025/26 Season (“Season”) when ski and snowboard lessons are booked through Blue Mountain Resort’s Snow School (“Snow School”). The Guarantee applies only to entry level or first-time skiers and riders who register and complete all three steps of the Learn to Ski & Snowboard with the Snow (“Guest”) during the Season.
GUARANTEE: The Learn to Ski & Snowboard Guarantee means that a Guest will progress in his/her skiing or riding ability in the three (3) Snow School Qualifying Lessons (as defined below), on any of the designated Green Run(s) listed below (the “Qualifying Trails”), by the completion of their third (3rd) Qualifying Lesson. The Guest will be provided a complimentary fourth (4th) lesson if, in the sole opinion of the Snow School, the Guest has not progressed at a satisfactory rate of progression.
QUALIFYING LESSONS: For purposes of this Guarantee, “Qualifying Lessons” are limited to those booked directly with the Resort, whether online or in person, and includes steps one (1) to three (3) of the Learn to Ski & Snowboard Packages.
FREE LESSON: If, at the completion of the 3rd Qualifying Lesson (Step 3), a Guest does not exhibit, to the satisfaction of their Snow School instructor, the skills and techniques to safely ski or ride from the top of the mountain, the Snow School may, in accordance with these Terms, redeem a 4th comparable lesson for free (a “Free Lesson”). A Free Lesson consists of one (1) Step 3 90-Minute Private, comparable to what the Guest had already taken, and only includes instruction and lesson taxes. Guest must provide equipment rentals, lift access, and pay for all other costs, fees and expenses. A Free Lesson may be given on any of the Qualifying Trails in the Snow School instructor’s absolute discretion.
FREE FREQUENCY PRODUCT: If, upon completion of the third (3rd) Qualifying Lesson or the fourth (4th) free lesson, the Snow School determines, in its sole opinion, that the Guest has progressed at a satisfactory rate, Blue Mountain Resort will provide the Guest with a free 25-26 5x7®ski pass or two (2) free 25 –26 Double Downs products valid for the Season (the “Frequency Product”).
For purposes of this Guarantee, the Free Lesson and the Frequency Product: (i) have no cash value and may not be refunded, replaced, substituted or redeemed for cash or otherwise for any reason, (ii) cannot be transferred or assigned in whole or in part, and (iii) in the case of the Free Lesson, will be void and not rescheduled if Guest cancels, misses, forgets or for any reason fails to otherwise properly, promptly participate in whole or in part in the Free Lesson as scheduled, or otherwise fails to avail themselves of the Free Lesson.
TO REDEEM A FREE LESSON: The guest must visit Guest Services, in person with their Learn to Ski & Snowboard Passport and code for forth (4th) Free Lesson, immediately following the completion of their 3rd Qualifying Lesson to schedule the Free Lesson. The Free Lesson must be used in the same Season during the Resort’s operating hours. If Guest fails to book immediately following their third qualifying lesson, the Free Lesson will be forfeited. No exceptions. There are no blackout dates for a Free Lesson, but it is subject to availability at time of booking.
GENERAL: This Guarantee is redeemable one-time only per Guest per Season, is personal to each Guest, and cannot be transferred or assigned in whole or in part to any other individual. Use of the Frequency Product is subject to its terms and conditions and conditional on the Guest signing the standard release of liability and waiver of claims associated with the Frequency Product.
Blue Mountain Resort reserves the right to cancel or refuse the Guarantee to anyone due to actual or suspected artifice, or unauthorized, invalid or ineligible participation. Blue Mountain Resort reserves the right to terminate, cancel or modify the Learn to Ski & Snowboard Guarantee, these Terms or any element thereof at any time without prior notice; and as applicable will apply such action proactively and not retroactively.  In the event any provision of these Terms conflict with the provisions of any other terms applicable hereto, these Terms shall govern. By redeeming the Free Lesson, the Guest agrees to be bound to the Resort’s decisions and interpretations, which are final and binding. This Guarantee is void where taxed, prohibited or restricted by law, and not available to employees of the Resort.
